Blue Point Congregational Church
Covenant of Behavior
In order to create an intentional Christian community, we call ourselves and each other to provide the best human society offers within the Blue Point Congregational Church. Therefore, the people of Blue Point Congregational Church pledge together that:
We treat each other and others as beloved children of God. We believe all people, members, participants and visitors to our faith community see and acknowledge the value of others and respect them as equals.
We appreciate and value differences as enriching and empowering our community. We believe that diversity is our strength, that being part of something larger than ourselves increases our faith, that inclusiveness brings us closer to following Christ’s call to love one another, as we love ourselves. We expect our faith community to be a mosaic where people's unique differences are appreciated, and valued as contributing to the richness of this faith family.
We seek to discover what is best for our church as a whole. We listen to others to expand our own understanding and share our ideas to benefit the community. We believe combining everyone’s ideas produces the best outcomes for our community.
We believe we must always respect each other’s ideas and feelings.
We believe honesty is absolutely necessary to create trust. We will always speak the truth with love.
We encourage discussion and expect discernment and evaluation as the faithful and natural paths to building a better community for all and accept the results as bettering our community.
We believe we are called to see the best in each other and give each other the benefit of the doubt when necessary.
We believe forgiveness is a mark of Christ among us and choose to seek paths of forgiveness and forgive one another as well as ourselves.
